Girl, You'll Be A Toddler Soon...
My little girl turned one year old this week. Sofia is really one in a million and I don't write about her nearly enough, but I think about her all the time. Here are just a very few-out of a billion- things I love about her:
She wakes me up with the most beautiful grin every day . She's always happy first thing, each and every morning. Anyone who feels that way has truly been blessed.
She's not the least bit hesitant to let everyone know how she feels, whether it's happy, sad, extremely frustrated or scared. She spares no one's feelings, ever, and the funny thing is no one seems to mind.
She can do baby head stands, which means she puts her hands and head to the floor, sticks her butt up in the air then claps for herself when she's done.
She loves to look in the mirror at herself and do rasberries.
She gives me a kiss and hug whenever I ask for one.
She makes me eat my words. She must have heard me tell someone a few weeks ago "Oh, Sofia knows how to walk, but will really only crawl," because the next morning she was walking all around by herself. She's hardly crawled since.
She's not your average kid. Her first word was "duck". She's been quacking ever since.
She keeps me fit. People think I work out because my shoulders and arms are so strong from carrying her around everywhere.
She likes to go shopping.
She didn't take off the tiara I had her wear at her birthday party. She thought it was cool. And she didn't eat her first ever piece of cake. And when I tried to give her another piece the day after her party, she fingerpainted with it.
Sofia is a lot of work. She requires a great deal of attention and patience, and she's shy and afraid to go near most other people, except Daddy, David and other little kids. So it's pretty much Sofia and me. She didn't become like this. She's always been this way- since the day she was born. I don't know what she sees in me, but I guess I'm pretty okay in her book. I don't know how long she plans to keep me this close, but I'm just going to enjoy it while it lasts.
Happy Birthday, Sweet Pea. You rock.
